Columbus Crew 2 extend win streak; Defeat Toronto FC II 4-2

After a long wait, Columbus Crew 2 picked up where they left off at. It showed that the postponement of the game would not stop the Black & Gold. Within the first 10 seconds of the game, the captain Marco Micaletto would kick the game off in high fashion as he scores the first goal of the game from an assist by Noah Fuson. The Black & Gold settled down after that.


They were playing their game. Around the 22nd minute, there was no love lost between the teams as Franklin picks up the yellow card for the Reds.


Then in the 29th minute, Toronto capitalized off a Columbus turnover that allowed Steffan Yates to put the ball in the back of the net for the equalizer. With tempers already flaring, Micaletto picked up a yellow in the 33rd minute. Columbus dominated the first half of possession. Going into half time it was leveled at 1-1.


Coming out of halftime, the Black & Gold opened the score up. In the 54th minute, Mo Farsi passed the ball just ahead of Jacen Russell-Rowe who dribbled into the box and shot it off his left foot and hit the post and bounced in to make it 2-1 Columbus and his 6th goal of the season.


Six minutes later, Russell-Rowe had a long pass to Noah Fuson. Fuson went 1v1 with the defender and then redirected the opposite way which brought the keeper off his line and outran him to chip the ball in the back of the net in the 60th minute to make the score 3-1.


Toronto responded with a goal from Altobelli in the 64th minute off the assist from Mbongue.


Columbus brought in Issaiah Parente for the captain Micaletto in the 65th minute. As the Crew kept pressing the Reds in the 70th minute, Fuson managed to keep the ball from a Toronto defender and dribble towards the endline when Parente can running into the box and Fuson served the ball up on a silver platter to Parente who tapped it home to make it 4-2 Columbus.


Following the proceeding kickoff for the Reds, Columbus seemed to have slowed the game down to eat away the remaining time.


After full time the Columbus Crew 2 defeat Toronto FC II 4-2 and pick up their 7th straight win of the season. Columbus sits in first place in the East with 21 points.
