Rivalry Week: The Best College Football Matchups

Rivalry Week: The Best College Football Matchups

Week 12 is here, also known as “rivalry week", and there are plenty of great matchups to enjoy your Thanksgiving leftovers. Not only are these some of the best matchups in all sports, but most of them have serious College Football Playoff implications.

Matchup #1: Friday @ 8:30 EST, We have #6 Oregon vs #16 Oregon State. This rivalry is a big one out west, and with Oregon moving to the Big Ten this could be their last matchup for a while. Also, this will determine the Pac-12 championship. If Oregon wins, they have a rematch against Washington and still be alive for the playoffs. Oregon State hopes to play spoiler in their 127th matchup and open the door for Arizona in the championship game! The line currently sits Oregon -14 (two touchdowns), however, don’t sleep on this dangerous underdog!

Matchup #2: Alabama #8 vs Auburn: Saturday @ 3:30 EST. Get Ready, the Iron Bowl is here! Auburn is a very dangerous team, at 6-5 and losing to New Mexico State last week; this team has absolutely nothing to lose! Alabama has already clinched a date into the SEC Championship vs Georgia next week. Bama is currently ranked #8 and needs this win to stay in the CFB playoff! race. This line currently sits at Alabama -14, but as we know in the Iron Bowl, throw the records out the window and get ready for some smash-mouth SEC football! I’ll be rooting for Auburn to come within 14 points! War Eagle!

Matchup #3: Ohio State #2 vs Michigan #3: The Greatest Rivalry in Sports dating back to 1897. Ohio State has won 8 of the last 10. Michigan has won the last two matchups. Since 2001, the team with the most rushing yards has won “the game”. The Buckeyes led by future NFL pro TreVeyon Henderson and Michigan' led by senior sensation Blake Corum, this game has everything needed for an all-time classic.

Michigan is also facing the sign-stealing scandals, while Ohio State has lost the last two matchups and is not content with being the underdog. On top of the rivalry, this game is most likely an elimination game for the College Football Playoffs! Vegas currently has this line Michigan -3.5 and the total at 46. As a Buckeye fan, I am very nervous. I believe this game will come down to one possession. With everything that’s on the line in this rivalry and both defenses being ranked top 5 statistically; I will be rooting for limited points. Give me the under-46!

With so much on the line, these rivalries will create one of the best weekends in College Football. Get The Popcorn Ready!
